Description

Indications

Indicated for the control and treatment of gastrointestinal nematodes, lungworms, tapeworms, and adult liver flukes in cattle, buffaloes, sheep, goats, and poultry.

Pharmacology

Albendazole (Vet) inhibits parasite tubulin polymerization by binding to beta-tubulin, blocking energy pathways and glucose absorption in helminthes, leading to parasite starvation and death.

Mechanism of action

Inhibits parasite tubulin polymerization and impairs glucose uptake, resulting in energy depletion and elimination of larvae, eggs, and adult worms.

Dosage

Gastrointestinal worms & lungworms: Cattle/Buffalo: 7.5 mg/kg body weight; Sheep/Goats: 5-7.5 mg/kg body weight. Liver Fluke: Cattle/Buffalo: 10-15 mg/kg body weight; Sheep/Goats: 7.5-10 mg/kg body weight.

Administration

For oral administration only. Can be given via drenching or mixed with feed/water.

Missed dose

Administer the missed dose as soon as possible. Do not double the dose.

Side effects

Well tolerated at therapeutic doses. Overdosage may cause transient anorexia, diarrhea, or mild lethargy.

Precautions & warnings

Do not administer during early pregnancy (first trimester). Observe mandatory meat and milk withdrawal periods before human consumption.

Contraindications

Contraindicated in animals with known hypersensitivity to benzimidazoles and during the first month of pregnancy.
