Amoxycillin Trihydrate (Vet)

Broad-spectrum aminopenicillin antibiotic inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis for treating susceptible bacterial infections.

Infections due to susceptible strains including ENT, lower respiratory tract, skin and soft tissue, genito-urinary tract, dental abscess, and H. pylori.

Inhibits cell wall biosynthesis, stable in gastric acid, rapidly absorbed after oral administration with wide tissue distribution.

Inhibition of bacterial cell wall biosynthesis.

Adult: 250 mg to 500 mg three times daily. Children: 125 mg to 250 mg three times daily. Varies by indication.

Suspension can be added to milk, fruit juice, or water and taken immediately. Injection via IM or IV as specified.

Take as soon as remembered.

Diarrhoea, indigestion, rash, rarely pseudo-membranous colitis.

Monitor for superinfections with mycotic or bacterial pathogens; adjust dose in renal impairment.

Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients.

Concurrent use with Probenecid increases blood levels; may reduce efficacy of oral contraceptives.

Can be taken with or without food.

US FDA Pregnancy Category B. Use if clearly needed.

Pregnancy Category: B — always consult a doctor before taking during pregnancy.

Excreted in human milk; exercise caution when administered to a lactating mother.

Used in children with appropriate weight-based or age-based dosing.

Use as advised by physician.

Reduce total daily dosage in renal impairment.

Supportive care as needed.

Keep in a dry place away from light and heat. Keep out of reach of children.
