Description
Chlorpheniramine + Pseudoepedrine is a combination medicine used in the treatment of common cold symptoms. It relieves allergy symptoms such as runny nose, stuffy nose, sneezing, watery eyes and congestion or stuffiness. Chlorpheniramine + Pseudoepedrine is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine. The most common side effects are nausea, stomach discomfort, nervousness, insomnia, restlessness, and headache. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects. This medicine may cause dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine as it can worsen your sleepiness. Never support self-medication or recommend your medicine to another person. It is beneficial to have plenty of fluids while taking this medication. Before you start taking this medicine it is important to inform your doctor if you are suffering from liver disease. Chlorpheniramine + Pseudoepedrine is a combination of two medicines: Chlorpheniramine Maleate and Pseudoephedrine, which relieves cold symptoms. Chlorpheniramine Maleate is an antiallergic which relieves allergy symptoms like runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing. Pseudoephedrine is a decongestant which narrows the small blood vessels providing relief from congestion or stuffiness in the nose.

Mechanism of action
Chlorpheniramine blocks muscle responses in histamine and acts as an antagonism of the constrictor effects of histamine on respiratory smooth muscle. Pseudoephedrine stimulates the alpha-adrenergic receptors causing bronchodilation and vasoconstriction.
Dosage
Adult Dose: Relief of Cold & Flu Symptoms Chlorpheniramine maleate 4 mg and pseudoephedrine HCl 60 mg PO q4-6hr Child Dose: Relief of Cold & Fever 6-12 Years Old Chlorpheniramine maleate 2 mg and pseudoephedrine HCl 30 mg PO q4-6hr >12 Years Old Chlorpheniramine maleate 4 mg and pseudoephedrine HCl 60 mg PO q4-6hr
Administration
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Chlorpheniramine + Pseudoepedrine may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Precautions & warnings

Chlorpheniramine + Pseudoepedrine helps relieve symptoms of cold and flu such as watery eyes, runny nose, sneezing, and itching of the nose or throat. Take it as per the dose and duration prescribed by your doctor. It may cause dizziness and sleepiness. Don't drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how it affects you. Avoid consuming alcohol when taking Chlorpheniramine + Pseudoepedrine as it may cause excessive drowsiness. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to conceive or breastfeeding.
Contraindications
Contraindicated in documented hypersensitivity to the drugs or within 14 days of MAO inhibitor therapy; asthma attacks, narrow-angle glaucoma, symptomatic prostate hypertrophy, bladder-neck obstruction, and stenosing peptic ulcer
Food interactions

Use in pregnancy
