Description
This tablet is a combination of Guaifenesin and Dextromethorphan HBr. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant that gives relief from cough by blocking the cough centre in the brain. Guaifenesin is an expectorant that reduces the viscosity of cough by increasing the flow of fluids in the bronchial secretion, thereby facilitating the expectoration of cough.

Pharmacology
This tablet is a combination of Guaifenesin and Dextromethorphan HBr. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant that gives relief from cough by blocking the cough centre in the brain. Guaifenesin is an expectorant that reduces the viscosity of cough by increasing the flow of fluids in the bronchial secretion.
Mechanism of action
Dextromethorphan acts on the cough centre to suppress cough; Guaifenesin reduces bronchial secretion viscosity to facilitate cough expectoration.
Dosage
Adults and children 12 years and older: 1 or 2 tablets every 12 hours, not more than 4 tablets daily.
Administration
Do not crush, chew, or break tablet. Take with a full glass of water. Can be administered without regard for the timing of meals.
Missed dose
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose.
Side effects
Common: Hypersensitivity, rash, nausea, vomiting.
Precautions & warnings
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity and those taking MAOIs or within 2 weeks of stopping. Not indicated for children under 12 years.
