Description
Lidocaine + Betamethasone + Chloramphenicol ear prep is a medicine used to treat ear infection. It works by killing and inhibiting the growth of microorganisms in the ear. This relieves discomfort, itching, irritation, pain and heals the ear infection. Lidocaine + Betamethasone + Chloramphenicol ear prep is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. This medicine should be used regularly to get the most benefit from it. You can help the medicine work better by keeping the affected areas clean, making sure they are dry, and washing your hands before and after treating the infection. It is generally well-tolerated with little or no side effects. However, it may cause irritation, itching, and burning sensation immediately following application. These side effects are temporary and usually subside on their own. Inform your doctor if they persist for a longer duration. Although medicines used on the ear are not normally affected by other medicines, you should let your doctor know if you are taking any other medicine to be safe. Lidocaine/Lignocaine is a local anesthetic which works by blocking pain signals from the nerves to brain thereby decreasing pain sensation. Betamethasone is a steroid medicine. It blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen and itchy after an allergy or infection. Chloramphenicol is an antibiotic which kills bacteria by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions.

Administration
