Why does the same medicine cost differently?
Many companies sell medicines with the same active ingredient (generic) under different brand names and prices. Even if your prescription names one brand, another brand with the same ingredient and strength is often cheaper. This calculator makes that comparison for your whole course. Whether to switch brands is a decision to make with your doctor or pharmacist.
Frequently asked questions
How is it calculated?
Total units per day × days for each medicine, priced from OsudhKosh’s database. Tablets and capsules are counted by piece (with strips shown); for syrups it works out how many bottles you’d need — so syrup totals are approximate.
Do cheaper brands work the same?
We only show brands with the same generic (ingredient), the same strength and the same kind of product. Still, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands.
Are the prices today’s market prices?
They’re the latest prices in our database. Shops, cities and times differ, so treat the total as an estimate.
Why isn’t the cost of injections or creams shown?
How much of them a course needs depends so much on dose and use that showing a number would be guesswork. They’re left out, and we say so clearly.
Is my data stored anywhere?
No. Your list stays in your browser. A share link only carries medicine codes, doses and days — nothing personal.
