Prof. Brig. Gen. Dr. SM Shameem Waheed

Prof. Brig Gen Dr. SM Shameem Waheed completed his MBBS from Sher-e-Bangla Medical College, Barisal. Then he joined Bangladesh Armed Forces and started his career as general surgeon by completing grading course in surgery. He completed FCPS in General Surgery and after that he worked in different CMH’s as surgeon. Then he completed FCPS in Urology and commenced his career in Urology and finally retired as Professor & Head of the Department of Urology at CMH, Dhaka. Dr. SM Shameem was trained in Muljibhai Patel Urology Hospital in Gujarat, India and earned SIU (Societe “lnternationale d' Urology) Fellowship. After that he was trained in National University Hospital, Singapore; Amrita Institute of Medical Science, Kerala; and Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, India. He established state of art Urology Centre at CMH, Dhaka. He performed all types of Urological Surgeries for more than decades and has trained junior urologists to achieve highest level of surgical and academic skills. Prof. Brig Gen Dr. SM Shameem Waheed was involved in establishing Kidney Transplant Program at CMH, Dhaka. He established dedicated and comprehensive Uro-oncology service for the Armed Forces. He is experienced in performing all types of challenging and complicated urological cancer surgeries.
