Prof. Dr. Md. Shafi Khan

graduated from Dhaka Medical College on 1998 and did his FCPS (Ophth) on 2006. He has completed his long term fellowship on Cornea and Anterior Segment from Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute and hospital, Dhaka and L V Prashad Eye Institute, India on 2010.

He served different government hospital as BCS (health cadre) officer for 10 years. Then he joined Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute and Hospital where he served as Deputy Director (MS) and Associate professor for 10 years. He was the Head of Cornea and Cataract department. Then he joined as Director cum professor of Lions Eye Institute and Hospital, Agargaon, Dhaka and served there for three years. Now he is acting as one of the Director of Bangladesh Eye Hospital and seeing patient regularly at Bangladesh Eye Hospital of Dhanmondi and Mirpur.

His field of interest is cataract, cornea, ocular trauma and refractive surgeries. He has done more than 10,000 cataract surgeries and more than 100 cornea transplants in his carrier. He loves to do complicated surgeries.

He has many publications in different journals and attended different seminars home and abroad.

His spouse, Ms Farhana Ahmed, is a journalist and working as Deputy Digital Editor at The Daily Star. He is blessed with two sons, Wasi and Waiyam. Travelling is his passion and he likes painting.

He is holding the post of Treasurer of BCRS and life member of OSB, BAO, BECOS, BCRS, BSCRS and AIOS.
