About Doctor

Professor Dr. Muhammad Rafiqul Alam is one of the senior Nephrologist (Specialist in Kidney disease) of Bangladesh. He obtained MBBS degree in 1982 from Chittagong Medical College, FCPS (Medicine) under the auspicious of Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1992 and MD (Nephrology) from Dhaka University in 1995. He undergone fellowship training in Nephrology in Manchester Royal Infirmary, UK, Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and National University Hospital (NUH), Singapore.

He is the former Chairman, Department of Nephrology and former Pro-Vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University

He is the Deputy Chair/Councilor, International Society of Nephrology South Asia Regional Board. He is the editor In Chief of Bangladesh Renal Journal. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology (FASN).

He is the author of the books:

·         “Kidney Niye Joto Kotha” (Facts about kidney)

·         “Synopsis of Nephrology”

·         “Cases in Nephrology”

·         “Manual of Clinical Nephrology”

He has about 60 publications in reputed national and international journals.

He received Life time achievement award (Gold Medal) from Gonoshasthya Kendra, Bangladesh Renal Association, Lung Foundation, Bangladesh and Association of Physicians of Bangladesh

He has special interest in Hypertension, Nephritis, Kidney transplantation, Diabetic Kidney disease and SLE.
