Description
Almitrine Bismesylate + Raubasine is a combination of almitrine (a respiratory stimulant) and raubasine (a vasodilator) that increases oxygen delivery to the brain and neurosensory tissues. Almitrine stimulates carotid body chemoreceptors to improve alveolar-capillary gas exchange and increase arterial oxygen pressure (PaO2). Raubasine is a vasodilator with post-synaptic blocking effects that improves cerebral blood flow. This combination increases cerebral blood flow in the injured hemisphere and significantly improves oxygen metabolism. Clinical trials have shown significant functional recovery in ischemic stroke patients.

Mechanism of action
Almitrine increases arterial blood oxygen levels by stimulating carotid body chemoreceptors, while raubasine improves cerebral blood flow through vasodilation. This dual action enhances oxygen delivery to the brain and neurosensory tissues, accelerating recovery after stroke and improving circulation-related neurological and sensory disorders.
Dosage
Adults:
- 1 tablet twice daily (morning and evening) – maximum 2 tablets per day
- Several hours interval between the two doses
- May be taken with or without food
Administration
Swallow the tablet whole with half a glass of water; do not chew. Take at the same time each day as advised by your doctor.
Missed dose
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

- Discontinue if numbness, tingling, or formication occurs in the lower limbs
- Discontinue if weight loss exceeds 5%

- Caution in patients with lactose intolerance, galactosemia, or glucose-galactose malabsorption
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to almitrine bismesylate or raubasine
- Severe hepatic impairment
- Peripheral neuropathy or history of peripheral neuropathy
Drug interactions
- MAO Inhibitors: Concurrent use is contraindicated
- Other almitrine-containing preparations: Do not use concurrently
