Pharmacology

Precipitates with mucopolysaccharides, damaging epithelial cells and forming a plug that blocks sweat output.

Mechanism of action

Obstruction of sweat gland ducts via aluminium-mucopolysaccharide gel plug formation.

Dosage

Apply each night until sweating stops, then reduce frequency to twice a week or less.

Administration

Apply topically at night to thoroughly dried skin and wash off in the morning.

Missed dose

Apply when remembered, avoiding daytime re-application.

Side effects

Very common: Application site irritation. Pruritus, erythema, rash, and skin burning sensation.

Precautions & warnings

Ensure skin is completely dry to prevent hydrochloric acid formation. Do not apply on shaved or broken skin.
