At a glance

Brammiroshayan is an Ayurvedic syrup formulated with Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri) along with multiple medicinal herbs. It helps improve memory, attention, and cognitive function.

Description

Brammiroshayan is an Ayurvedic syrup that has been used since ancient times. Its main ingredient is Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri), which is well-known as a nervine tonic. It also contains Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus), Vidari (Ipomoea paniculata), Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), Vena (Vetiveria zizanioides), Ginger (Zingiber officinale), and Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare).

The triterpenoid saponins and bacosides present in Brahmi enhance nerve impulse transmission. Bacosides help repair damaged neurons by enhancing kinase activity, neuronal synthesis, restoring synaptic activity, and modulating cholinergic and GABAergic neurotransmission. It exhibits antioxidant activity in the hippocampus, frontal cortex, and striatum and modulates the expression of enzymes involved in reactive oxygen species regulation in the brain.

Shatavari is a well-known nervine tonic that reduces free radical-induced oxidative neural damage. Its antioxidant compound racemofuran enhances glutathione peroxidase activity and glutathione content while reducing lipid peroxidation and protein carbonyl levels.

This syrup is beneficial for cognitive deficit, age-associated memory impairment, attention deficit disorder, dementia, convulsions and epilepsy in children, Alzheimer's disease, autistic spectrum disorder, and drug addiction.

Pharmacology

Brammiroshayan's main ingredient is Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri), which belongs to the Scrophulariaceae family. It has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries. The compounds responsible for its pharmacological effects include alkaloids, saponins, and sterols. Other active constituents include betulic acid, stigmasterol, beta-sitosterol, and numerous bacosides.

The triterpenoid saponins and bacosides enhance nerve impulse transmission. Bacosides aid in repairing damaged neurons by enhancing kinase activity, neuronal synthesis, restoring synaptic activity, and modulating cholinergic and GABAergic neurotransmission.

Asparagus racemosus is a well-known nervine tonic that attenuates free radical-induced oxidative neural damage. Its antioxidant compound racemofuran enhances glutathione peroxidase activity and glutathione content while reducing membrane lipid peroxidation and protein carbonyl levels.

Mechanism of action

Brammiroshayan's triterpenoid saponins and bacosides enhance nerve impulse transmission. Bacosides repair damaged neurons by enhancing kinase activity and restoring synaptic activity. Brahmi acts as an antioxidant in the hippocampus, frontal cortex, and striatum, regulating enzymes involved in reactive oxygen species management. Shatavari enhances glutathione peroxidase activity and glutathione content while reducing lipid peroxidation and protein carbonyl levels, protecting neurons from oxidative damage.
