Description
Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium + Glycerine Eye Prep is an ocular lubricant used to relieve dryness and irritation of the eye. Each ml contains Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium USP 5 mg and Glycerin BP 9 mg. Preservative: Sodium Perborate BP 0.01%.
The combination of Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium and Glycerin relieves dry eye symptoms in two ways: firstly by providing a lubricating and hydrating protective shield on the ocular surface, and then by working below the tear film to provide protection to the cornea.

Pharmacology
The combination of Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium and Glycerin provides a lubricating and hydrating protective shield on the ocular surface and works below the tear film to protect the cornea. It acts similarly to natural tears to relieve dryness and irritation.
Mechanism of action
Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium and Glycerin form a lubricating film on the ocular surface that mimics natural tears, retains moisture, and protects the cornea.
Dosage
Adults and children: Instill 1 drop in the affected eye(s) as needed, or as directed by a physician.
Note: Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute after instillation (to reduce systemic absorption). Use within 1 month of opening.
Administration
For ophthalmic use only. Wash hands before use. Do not touch the dropper tip to any surface or your eye (to avoid contamination). Hold the dropper close to the eye without touching it and place the drop inside the lower eyelid. Allow at least 5-10 minutes between different eye medications. Use within 1 month of opening.
Missed dose
If you miss a dose, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.
Side effects
Common side effects: Temporary blurred vision upon first use, stinging sensation in the eye.
Rare: Minor and temporary burning.
Consult a doctor if irritation, eye pain, or visual changes worsen or persist beyond 72 hours.

- For external use only.
- Do not touch the dropper tip to any surface (to avoid contamination).
- If using soft contact lenses, remove them before applying drops and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting.

Use in pregnancy

Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium or Glycerin has not been measured in human milk. Caution should be exercised when administered to a nursing mother.
Pediatric use
Can be used in children.
Geriatric use
No specific dose adjustment required for elderly.
Renal / hepatic impairment
No special precautions required for patients with liver or kidney impairment (minimal systemic absorption with topical application).
Overdose effects
An overdose is not expected to be dangerous.
Storage conditions
Store below 30°C, protected from light. Do not use longer than 1 month after first opening. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
