Description
Fluocinolone Acetonide is a topical corticosteroid. Corticosteroids are medicines used for reducing inflammation. Inflammation of the skin happens as a result of allergy or irritation of the skin, and is caused by the release of various substances that are important in the immune system.
When fluocinolone is applied to the skin it works by acting inside the cells to decrease the release of these inflammatory substances. This reduces swelling, redness and itch. Clioquinol has antifungal and antibacterial actions. It works by preventing the growth and multiplication of the organisms.

Pharmacology
Fluocinolone is a topical corticosteroid. Corticosteroids are medicines used for reducing inflammation. Clioquinol has antifungal and antibacterial actions by preventing the growth and multiplication of organisms.
Mechanism of action
Fluocinolone reduces inflammation and itching; Clioquinol prevents fungal and bacterial growth.
Dosage
Adult Dose (Topical):
- Apply thinly and evenly to the affected area(s).
- May be applied 2-3 times daily.
Administration
For external use only. Apply thinly and evenly to the affected area(s). Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, or nose. Wash hands thoroughly after applying. If using dressings, cleanse skin before applying cream/ointment under a fresh dressing.
Missed dose
If you miss a dose of Fluocinolone Acetonide + Clioquinol, apply it as soon as possible; however, if it is almost time for your next application, skip the missed dose.
Side effects
Side Effects:
- Skin irritation at application site (burning, itching, redness)
- Allergic contact dermatitis
- Thinning of the skin
- Changes in skin pigmentation
- Stretch marks (striae)
- Telangiectasia
Precautions & warnings
Precautions:
- Do not use if allergic to iodine.
- Do not use in primary bacterial, fungal or viral skin infections.
- Do not use in acne, rosacea, perioral dermatitis, anogenital pruritus, napkin rash.
- Caution in pregnancy and lactation (do not use on large areas, under airtight dressings, or for prolonged periods).
- Do not use in children under one year of age.
- Do not use in widespread plaque psoriasis.

Drug interactions
Drug Interactions:
- If using other medicines on the same area, leave several minutes between applying each product.
- Apply moisturizers at least 30 minutes before or after this medicine.
