Fluocinolone Acetonide + Clioquinol

Fluocinolone Acetonide is a topical corticosteroid. Corticosteroids are medicines used for reducing inflammation. Inflammation of the skin happens as a result of allergy or irritation of the skin, and is caused by the release of various substances that are important in the immune system.

When fluocinolone is applied to the skin it works by acting inside the cells to decrease the release of these inflammatory substances. This reduces swelling, redness and itch. Clioquinol has antifungal and antibacterial actions. It works by preventing the growth and multiplication of the organisms.

• Infected Inflammatory Skin Conditions: Used for inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, or psoriasis that are infected or likely to become infected.

Fluocinolone reduces inflammation and itching; Clioquinol prevents fungal and bacterial growth.

Adult Dose (Topical):

• Apply thinly and evenly to the affected area(s).
• May be applied 2-3 times daily.

For external use only. Apply thinly and evenly to the affected area(s). Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, or nose. Wash hands thoroughly after applying. If using dressings, cleanse skin before applying cream/ointment under a fresh dressing.

If you miss a dose of Fluocinolone Acetonide + Clioquinol, apply it as soon as possible; however, if it is almost time for your next application, skip the missed dose.

Side Effects:

• Skin irritation at application site (burning, itching, redness)
• Allergic contact dermatitis
• Thinning of the skin
• Changes in skin pigmentation
• Stretch marks (striae)
• Telangiectasia

Precautions:

• Do not use if allergic to iodine.
• Do not use in primary bacterial, fungal or viral skin infections.
• Do not use in acne, rosacea, perioral dermatitis, anogenital pruritus, napkin rash.
• Caution in pregnancy and lactation (do not use on large areas, under airtight dressings, or for prolonged periods).
• Do not use in children under one year of age.
• Do not use in widespread plaque psoriasis.

Contraindications:

• Children under one year of age
• Allergy to iodine
• Primary bacterial, fungal or viral skin infections
• Acne, rosacea, perioral dermatitis
• Anogenital pruritus, napkin rash
• Widespread plaque psoriasis

Drug Interactions:

• If using other medicines on the same area, leave several minutes between applying each product.
• Apply moisturizers at least 30 minutes before or after this medicine.

Food Interactions: No interaction found/established.

Use in Pregnancy: Should not be used during pregnancy unless considered essential; do not use on large areas, under airtight dressings, or for prolonged periods.

Use in Lactation: Should not be used during breastfeeding unless considered essential; wash off carefully before breastfeeding if applied to breasts.

Pediatric Use: Contraindicated in children under 1 year; use in children over 1 year under medical advice.

Geriatric Use: Same as adult dose.

Renal Impairment: No specific precautions necessary (minimal systemic absorption due to topical use).

Hepatic Impairment: No specific precautions necessary (minimal systemic absorption due to topical use).

Overdose: Limited information on topical overdose; excessive use may cause skin irritation.

Storage: Keep below 30 degree C, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
