Description
Introduction: Fluticasone Propionate 0.05% Topical belongs to a group of medicines called steroids. It is used for treatment of skin conditions with inflammation and itching such as eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis. It provides relief from pain, swelling, redness, and itching.
How it works: Fluticasone Propionate utilises a fluorocarbothioate ester linkage at the C17 position. It has potent vasoconstrictive and anti-inflammatory activity, but weak HPA inhibitory effect when applied topically.
Important Information: For external use only. Apply a thin layer to the affected area. Avoid contact with eyes, nose, or mouth. If no improvement within 2 weeks, consult your doctor.

Pharmacology
Fluticasone Propionate utilises a fluorocarbothioate ester linkage at the C17 position. It has potent vasoconstrictive and anti-inflammatory activity, but weak HPA inhibitory effect when applied topically.
Mechanism of action
Fluticasone Propionate binds to glucocorticoid receptors and reduces the activity of inflammatory cells and mediators, resulting in decreased skin inflammation and itching.
Dosage
Adult Dose:
- Apply a thin film to the affected skin areas once or twice daily.
- Rub in gently.
- Reassess diagnosis if no improvements within 2 weeks.
Child Dose (>3 months):
- Apply a thin film to the affected skin areas once or twice daily.
Children under 3 months: Not recommended.
Administration
For external use only. Use in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and gently massage the cream. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area.
Missed dose
If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and follow your regular schedule.

Precautions & warnings
Precautions:
- Don't use it more often or for longer than advised.
- Don't apply to broken or infected areas of skin.
- Don't apply to face, eyes or eyelids.
- Don't cover the area with airtight dressings (may increase risk of side effects).
- If you think the area has become infected, stop using and consult your doctor.
- Consult your doctor if no improvement after 2 weeks.
Contraindications
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity
- Acne vulgaris
- Rosacea
- Perioral dermatitis
- Skin atrophy
- Primary cutaneous viral infections (herpes simplex, chicken pox)
- Primary fungal or bacterial skin infections
Drug interactions
Drug Interactions:
- CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ritonavir) may increase plasma concentrations of fluticasone.
