Halobetasol Propionate 0.05% Topical

Introduction: Halobetasol Propionate 0.05% Topical is a super-high potency corticosteroid used for allergic disorders and inflammatory skin conditions. It provides relief from swelling, redness, and itching in the affected area.

How it works: Corticosteroids decrease inflammation by stabilizing leukocyte lysosomal membranes, preventing release of destructive acid hydrolases from leukocytes; inhibiting macrophage accumulation in inflamed areas; reducing capillary wall permeability and edema formation; decreasing complement components; antagonizing histamine activity and reducing fibroblast proliferation.

Important Information: Apply a thin layer to the affected area twice daily. Do not use longer than 2 consecutive weeks and do not exceed 50 g/week.

Halobetasol Propionate reduces skin inflammation, redness and itching by inhibiting production of inflammatory mediators.

Adult Dose:

• Apply topically to affected area(s) twice daily
• Not to exceed 50 g/week
• Do not use longer than 2 consecutive weeks

Child Dose (12 years):

• Apply topically to affected area(s) twice daily
• Not to exceed 50 g/week
• Do not use longer than 2 weeks

For external use only. Apply a thin layer to the affected area and rub in gently. Wash hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area. Avoid contact with eyes, nose and mouth.

If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and follow your regular schedule.

Common Side Effects:

• Headache
• Application site pain
• Burning
• Dryness
• Itching

With prolonged use: Skin thinning, visible blood vessels, striae, telangiectasia

Precautions:

• Don't use it more often or for longer than advised
• Don't cover the area with occlusive dressings (may increase risk of side effects)
• If infection occurs, stop using and consult doctor
• Consult doctor if no improvement after 2 weeks
• Inform doctor if mood changes or stomach problems occur

Contraindications:

• History of hypersensitivity to any components

Drug Interactions:

• Caution with other topical products
• Systemic absorption may occur if used over large areas

Food Interactions: Not applicable (topical).

Use in Pregnancy: May be unsafe during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown harmful effects.

Use in Lactation: Probably safe during breastfeeding. Do not apply to the breast.

Pediatric Use: Dosage available for children 12 years and older. Not recommended for children under 12 years.

Geriatric Use: Use as per doctor's advice for elderly patients.

Renal & Hepatic Impairment: Minimal systemic absorption due to topical use - no known restrictions.

Overdose: Prolonged excess use may suppress HPA axis - reduce or stop use.

Storage: Store below 30°C.
