Description
This tablet contains Iron (III) Hydroxide Polymaltose Complex (47 mg elemental Iron), Folic Acid (0.5 mg) and Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate (22.5 mg elemental Zinc). Iron Polymaltose Complex is a noble iron preparation containing non-ionic ferric iron and polymaltose in a stable complex that facilitates controlled iron absorption when in contact with mucosal cell surface. Folic acid helps in proper development of the fetus. Zinc keeps enzymes working and helps to metabolize proteins.

Pharmacology
Iron (III) Hydroxide Polymaltose Complex is a noble iron preparation containing non-ionic ferric iron and polymaltose in a stable complex. This complex facilitates controlled absorption of iron when it comes in contact with the mucosal cell surface. Due to non-ionic nature, it is more stable than conventional iron form. Folic acid helps in proper development of the fetus. Zinc keeps enzymes working and helps to metabolize proteins.
Mechanism of action
Iron Polymaltose Complex facilitates controlled iron absorption; Folic acid helps in fetal development; Zinc helps enzyme function and protein metabolism.
Dosage
Adult Dose (Oral):
- One tablet daily
- Two tablets may be required a day in severe cases
Child Dose: No specific data; use as directed by physician
Administration
Take in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor; swallow whole tablet.
Missed dose
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible; if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to regular schedule; do not double the dose.

Precautions & warnings
Precautions:
- As with all iron preparations, dark coloration of the stool may occur which is without clinical significance
- Caution in conditions where there is a risk of iron overload (hemochromatosis, thalassemia or haemosiderosis)
- Iron chelates with tetracycline and absorption may be impaired

Drug interactions
Since iron is complex bound, ionic interaction with foodstuff components (phytates, oxalates, tannin) and concomitant administration of medicaments (tetracyclines, antacids) are unlikely.
