Description
Ispagul + Sonapata is a herbal formulation of two mostly laxative medicinal herbs Plantago ovata (Ispagul) & Cassia angustifolia (Sonapata). Ispaghula is capable of absorbing up to 40 times of water and Sonapata acts as an inhibitor of water & electrolyte absorption from the large intestine, increasing the volume and pressure of the intestinal contents, stimulating peristaltic movement. Ispaghula has the ability to bind with bile acid which lowers circulating blood cholesterol level.

Pharmacology
Ispaghula is capable of absorbing up to 40 times of water and Sonapata acts as an inhibitor of water & electrolyte absorption from the large intestine, increasing the volume and pressure of the intestinal contents, stimulating peristaltic movement. Ispaghula has the ability to bind with bile acid which lowers circulating blood cholesterol level by excretion of those fats.
Mechanism of action
Ispaghula absorbs water to increase stool bulk; Sonapata stimulates intestinal motility.
Dosage
Adult Dose (Oral):
- 1 sachet or 4 gm powder with 150-200 ml water 1-2 times daily
Child Dose (6-12 years):
- 1/2 to 1 sachet or 2-4 gm powder with 150-200 ml water 1-2 times daily
Child Dose (<6 years): As directed by the physician
Administration
Take orally with plenty of water; mix 1 sachet or 4 gm powder with 150-200 ml water; drink adequate amount of water.
Missed dose
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible; if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to regular schedule; do not double the dose.
