Magnesium Oxide is a mineral supplement that prevents or controls convulsions by blocking neuromuscular transmission and decreasing acetylcholine liberation at motor nerve endings. It has a depressant effect on the central nervous system.
Mechanism of action
Corrects magnesium deficiency and supports various cellular activities.
Dosage
Adults and 12 years+: 1-2 tablets daily
Administration
- Swallow tablets whole
- Take at the same time each day
- Take other medications either 2 hours before or 2 hours after
Missed dose
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

- Mood or mental changes

Precautions & warnings
- Do not use in severe kidney failure
- Do not use as antacid for longer than 2 weeks
- Do not use as laxative for longer than 1 week (unless advised by doctor)
- Inform doctor if you have liver, kidney, heart, or intestinal disease
Contraindications
- Severe kidney failure
Drug interactions
- Interactions with muscle relaxants, aminoquinolone antibiotics, digoxin, lithium, barbiturates, opioids, nifedipine
- At least 4 hours interval required with levothyroxine
