Description
Mebhydrolin is an ethylenediamine derivative antihistamine with antimuscarinic and sedative properties. It diminishes or abolishes the main actions of histamine in the body by blocking histamine receptors.

Pharmacology
Mebhydrolin blocks histamine receptors to reduce or eliminate the main actions of histamine in the body, relieving allergic reactions.
Mechanism of action
Reduces allergic reactions by blocking histamine receptors.
Dosage
Adults and Children over 10 years: 2-6 tablets daily (in divided doses)
Children (5-10 years): 2-4 tablets daily
Children (2-5 years): 1-3 tablets daily
Children (up to 2 years): 1-2 tablets daily
Administration
- Take during or shortly after meals
- For children, tablets may be crushed and mixed with food
- Take at the same time each day
Missed dose
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember; skip if it's almost time for next dose; do not double the dose.
Side effects

Precautions & warnings
- May cause drowsiness; caution when driving or operating machinery
- Avoid alcohol (may increase sedation)
- Caution in closed-angle glaucoma, urinary retention, prostatic hyperplasia, or pyloroduodenal obstruction
- Caution in epilepsy
- Do not use in first trimester of pregnancy
Contraindications
- Premature infants and neonates
- Acute asthmatic attack
- Prostatic hypertrophy
- Narrow-angle glaucoma
- Hypersensitivity to the drug
Drug interactions
- Enhanced sedation with alcohol or other CNS depressants
- Additive antimuscarinic effects with MAOIs, atropine, TCAs
- May mask warning symptoms caused by ototoxic agents (e.g., aminoglycosides)
Food interactions
Alcohol may cause excessive sedation with Mebhydrolin.
Use in pregnancy
Use in Pregnancy: Do not use in first trimester; caution in second and third trimesters.
Use in lactation
Use in Lactation: Safety not established during lactation; caution is advised.
Pediatric use
Pediatric doses are established (age-based); dose established for children under 2 years.
Geriatric use
Paradoxical stimulation may occur in elderly at high doses; caution is needed.
Renal / hepatic impairment

Overdose effects
