Olopatadine 0.6% Nasal prep is an antihistamine and mast cell stabilizer used for seasonal allergic rhinitis. It blocks histamine H1 receptors and inhibits histamine release from mast cells to relieve allergy symptoms.
Description
Olopatadine is a relatively selective histamine H1-receptor antagonist which inhibits the release of histamine from mast cells and histamine-induced effects. It shares many of the pharmacologic effects of mast cell stabilisers. As a nasal spray, it relieves nasal allergy symptoms (sneezing, itching, runny nose).

Pharmacology
Olopatadine blocks H1 receptors to prevent histamine effects and inhibits release of histamine and other inflammatory mediators from mast cells to reduce allergic reactions.
Mechanism of action
Relieves nasal allergy symptoms (sneezing, itching, runny nose).
Dosage
Adult Dose (Nasal Spray):
- 2 sprays per nostril twice daily
Pediatric Dose (6-11 years):
- 1 spray per nostril twice daily
Pediatric Dose (<6 years): Safety and efficacy not established
Administration
- Prime before first use by releasing 5 sprays (until fine mist appears)
- If not used for more than 7 days, re-prime by releasing 2 sprays
- Avoid spraying into eyes
Missed dose
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember; skip if it's almost time for next dose; do not double the dose.
Side effects
