Description
Povidone-iodine is an iodophore with powerful broad-spectrum germicidal activity against bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoa, and spores. It oxidizes cell constituents and iodinates proteins, inactivating them. As an eye drop, it reduces microorganisms on the ocular surface and acts as an ocular lubricant.

Pharmacology
Povidone-iodine slowly releases elemental iodine, providing prolonged germicidal activity. The 1.25% concentration is effective for ocular antisepsis and also acts as an ocular lubricant.
Mechanism of action
Prevents eye infections by killing harmful microorganisms.
Dosage
Adult Dose (Ophthalmic):
- Apply 1-2 drops in the affected eyes 3-4 times daily
Administration
- Check the label before use
- Do not touch the dropper tip to any surface during application
- For external use only
- If vision is blurred, do not drive or use machinery
- Do not wear contact lenses (reinsert after 30 minutes)
Missed dose
If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember; skip if it's almost time for next application; do not double the dose.
