Indications
Prevents chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting; at low dose, for diarrhoea-predominant IBS (in men).

Mechanism of action
Blocks 5-HT3 (serotonin) receptors in the gut and brain, preventing vomiting signals.
Dosage
For chemo-induced vomiting: 0.3 mg injection or 0.1 mg orally once daily (as directed).
Administration
Oral or injection; given before chemotherapy.

Side effects
Headache, constipation, raised liver enzymes, dizziness.
Precautions & warnings
Caution in liver disease; monitor if at risk of QT prolongation.
