Description
Tafluprost is a selective FP prostanoid receptor agonist that reduces intraocular pressure by increasing uveoscleral outflow of aqueous humor.

Pharmacology
Tafluprost activates FP prostanoid receptors, increasing aqueous humor outflow through the uveoscleral pathway. This reduces intraocular pressure, helping to slow progression of open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension.
Mechanism of action
Reduces intraocular pressure by increasing uveoscleral outflow of aqueous humor.
Dosage
Adult Dose (Ophthalmic):
- Instill 1 drop in affected eye(s) once daily in the evening
- Do not exceed once daily (more frequent use may lessen IOP-lowering effect)
Administration
- For ophthalmic use only
- Maintain 5-minute interval between other eye medications
- Do not touch dropper tip to eye or any surface
Missed dose
If you miss a dose, take it the next evening; do not double the dose.
Side effects
Common Side Effects (1-10%):
- Conjunctival hyperemia (4-20%)
- Ocular stinging (7%)
- Ocular pruritus/allergic conjunctivitis (5%)
- Eyelash growth (2%), blurred vision (2%)
- Cataract (3%)
Precautions & warnings
- Causes changes to pigmented tissues (iris, eyelid, eyelashes) – iris pigmentation is likely permanent
- Caution in active intraocular inflammation (may exacerbate)
- Risk of macular edema (caution in aphakic patients, torn posterior lens capsule)
