Travoprost 0.004% Eye prep is used to reduce pressure in the eyes in adults with glaucoma and high pressure in the eye. It works by helping fluid flow from inside the eye into the blood.
Description
Travoprost, a synthetic analogue of prostaglandin F2α, reduces intraocular pressure by increasing uveoscleral outflow of aqueous humour. It is a selective FP prostanoid receptor agonist.

Pharmacology
Travoprost is a selective FP prostanoid receptor agonist. It reduces intraocular pressure by increasing uveoscleral outflow. It is absorbed through the cornea and hydrolyzed by esterases to its biologically active free acid.
Mechanism of action
Acts as FP prostanoid receptor agonist, increasing uveoscleral outflow.
Dosage
Adult Dose (Ophthalmic):
- 1 drop in affected eye(s) once daily in the evening
- Do not administer more than once daily
Administration
- For ophthalmic use only
- Remove contact lenses and reinsert after 15 minutes
- Apply pressure to inner corner of eye for 1 minute after instillation
- Wait 5-10 minutes before other eye medications
Missed dose
If you miss a dose, apply it the next evening; do not double the dose.
Side effects
Common Side Effects:
- Conjunctival hyperemia
- Eye pain
- Change in iris color
- Eye irritation
- Foreign body sensation
- Itching
- Blurred vision
- Dry eye
- Darkening of eyelashes
Precautions & warnings
- Does not usually affect ability to drive
- Brown pigmentation of iris may be permanent
- Eyelashes may become denser and longer; changes disappear after discontinuation
- Caution in active intraocular inflammation
- Risk of macular edema; caution in aphakic patients

Storage conditions
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light; keep out of reach of children. Discard container 4 weeks after opening.
