Pharmacology

Undenatured Collagen II is derived from chicken sternum cartilage preventing breakdown of joint cartilage. Glucosamine is the essential building block of joint cartilage. Chondroitin is a structural component of cartilage. MSM maintains and repairs healthy joints, tendons, ligaments, and connective tissues.

Mechanism of action

Undenatured Collagen II releases collagen-specific T-regulatory cells, preventing cartilage breakdown and slowing inflammatory cytokine production. Glucosamine reduces synthesis of inflammatory mediators. Chondroitin maintains water and nutrients in cartilage. MSM reduces COX-2 and nitric oxide expression.

Dosage

Adult Dose (Oral):

  • 1 tablet daily after a meal or as directed by the physician

Missed dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember; if almost time for next dose, skip it; do not double the dose.

Side effects

  • Generally well tolerated
  • Occasionally mild epigastric pain, constipation, diarrhea, bloating, and nausea
  • Rarely headache and visual disturbance

  • Glucosamine sulfate can alter GI absorption of tetracycline, penicillin, and chloramphenicol
  • Can be used with analgesics or anti-inflammatory drugs

  • Hypersensitivity to Undenatured Collagen II, Glucosamine Sulfate, Chondroitin Sulfate, and MSM
  • Contraindicated for patients under 18 years, phenylketonuria, and severe renal insufficiency
