Pharmacology
This is a well balanced combination of B-Complex vitamins which is specially formulated for prophylactic or therapeutic nutritional supplementation in conditions requiring water soluble B-Complex vitamins. Vitamins are essential for normal metabolic functions including hematopoiesis.
Mechanism of action
B-Complex vitamins are necessary for the conversion of carbohydrate, protein and fat into tissue and energy.
Dosage
Adult Dose (Oral):
- Tablet/Capsule: 1-2 tablets/capsules thrice daily
- Syrup: 2-3 teaspoonful daily or as directed by the physician
Adult Dose (IM/IV):
- Injection: 2 mL daily or as advised by the Registered Physician (slowly IV)
Administration
- May be taken with or without food
- Swallow tablets/capsules whole
Missed dose
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember; if almost time for next dose, skip it; do not double the dose.
Side effects
Common Side Effects:
- Generally well tolerated
- Adverse reactions have been reported with specific vitamins, generally at levels substantially higher than those in the preparation
- Allergic and idiosyncratic reactions are possible at lower levels
Precautions & warnings
- Should be given cautiously to patients taking Levodopa as Pyridoxine reduces the effect of Levodopa
- Hypersensitivity may develop in patients previously given thiamine, especially after repeated injections of concentrated solution
- Discontinue drug if untoward reactions develop
- Intramuscular administration may cause transient pain
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any of its components
Drug interactions
- Levodopa: Pyridoxine may increase the peripheral metabolism of levodopa, reducing therapeutic efficacy
