Bambuterol Hydrochloride is a bronchodilator used to relieve symptoms of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) such as coughing, wheezing and breathlessness.
Indications
- Bronchial asthma
- Chronic bronchitis
- Emphysema
- Other lung diseases where bronchospasm is a complicating factor
Dosage
Adults:
- Initial dose: 10 mg daily (at bedtime)
- Dose increase: May be increased to 20 mg after 1-2 weeks depending on clinical effect
Children (2-5 years): 10 mg (10 ml syrup) daily
Children (6-12 years): 10 mg (10 ml syrup) daily; may be increased to 20 mg if needed
Hepatic Impairment (Severe): Not recommended
Renal Impairment (CrCl <50 mL/min): Initial dose should be halved

Precautions & warnings
- In severe renal impairment (CrCl <50 mL/min), halve the initial dose
- Caution in patients with history of diabetes, thyroid disease, high blood pressure, heart disease, liver or kidney problems
- Caution in patients with family history of glaucoma
- Monitor serum potassium levels in patients with severe asthma
- Caution during the first trimester of pregnancy
- Caution when driving or operating machinery (may cause dizziness or tremor)
