Indications
Treatment of herpes simplex, recurrent herpes simplex, and herpes zoster.
Dosage
Herpes simplex: 200 mg once daily after meals. Recurrent herpes simplex: 1200 mg single dose within 6 hours. Herpes zoster: 400 mg once daily after meals.
Side effects
Headache, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, thrombocytopenia, gingival bleeding, palpitations.
Precautions & warnings
Special monitoring essential for severe renal impairment, thrombocytopenia, and elderly patients.
