Neomycin Sulfate + Bacitracin Zinc + Polymyxin B Sulfate is a combination topical antibiotic ointment used for infected wounds, burns, skin grafts, furuncles, carbuncles, pyoderma, impetigo and acne.
Indications
- Infected wounds
- Burns
- Skin grafts
- Donor site preparation
- Chronic varicose or indolent ulcers
- Furuncles, carbuncles
- Pyoderma, sycosis barbae
- Impetigo, acne
- Secondary infected skin lesions of scabies, pediculosis, tinea pedis
Dosage
Adult Dose (Topical):
- Apply a thin layer to affected area 1-3 times daily
- Continue until infection is controlled and healing complete
Pediatric Dose: Same as adults; however, not recommended for neonates
Side effects
Side Effects:
- Nausea, vomiting
- Pain, burning or swelling
- Skin rashes
- Kidney problems
- Hearing loss
- Dizziness
- Unusual numbness of skin
- Muscle twitching
- Seizures
Precautions & warnings
- Not intended for sterile use in surgical procedures (may potentiate neuromuscular block)
- Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms
- Enhanced absorption in neonates and infants with immature renal function
