Betamethasone 0.1% E/E & Nasal prep is a corticosteroid used to relieve swelling, itchiness, and redness of eyes, ears, and nose caused by inflammation. It works by blocking the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that cause inflammation.
Indications
- Bacterial eye infections
- Bacterial ear infections
- Nasal inflammatory conditions
Dosage
Adults and Children:
- Eye: 1-2 drops every 1-2 hours until control is achieved, then frequency may be reduced.
- Ear: 2-3 drops every 2-3 hours until control is achieved, then frequency may be reduced.
- Nose: 2-3 drops in each nostril 2-3 times daily.
Side effects
- Application site irritation
- Temporary blurred vision
- Bitter taste in mouth
Precautions & warnings
- Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment
- Do not touch the dropper tip to any surface or eye/ear to avoid contamination
- Consult your doctor if no improvement within 2 days
- Use within 4 weeks after opening
- Do not use in ear if eardrum is perforated
- Remove contact lenses before use and wait 15 minutes before reinserting
- Caution when driving (may cause temporary blurred vision)
