Indications
- Acne (Acne Vulgaris): Used for topical treatment of acne.
Dosage
Adult Dose (Topical):
- Acne: Apply onto affected areas 1-2 times daily. Discontinue if condition worsens or no improvement after 6-8 weeks. Max duration: 6 months.
Child Dose: Safety and efficacy not established in children under 12 years. Over 12 years: Adult dose applies.
Side effects
Common Side Effects:
- Skin peeling
- Erythema (redness)
- Dry skin
- Irritation
- Itching
- Stinging and burning sensation
- Skin tenderness
- Contact sensitization
Potentially Fatal: Hepatotoxicity, cholestatic jaundice, raised serum transaminases, eosinophilia.
Precautions & warnings
Precautions:
- For external use only.
- Keep away from eyes, nose, mouth and other mucous membranes.
- Prescribed for treatment of severe acne. May take long to improve; be patient and use every day.
- Wash skin with mild cleanser and pat dry before applying.
- Inform doctor if burning, stinging or irritation persists.
- Stop using and consult doctor if treated area becomes more irritated and infected.
- Prolonged or repeated use may result in bacterial or fungal overgrowth.
