Lenograstrim is used to prevent infections after chemotherapy. It is a growth factor that stimulates the bone marrow to produce white blood cells, which protect the body against infections.

Indications
  • Prevention of infections after chemotherapy (neutropenia)
  • Neutropenia following bone marrow transplantation
  • Mobilization of PBPC for autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplantation
Dosage

Adult Dose:

  • Post-BMT: 19.2 million IU/m² or 150 mcg/m² IV infusion daily, starting the day after transplantation for a maximum of 28 days
  • PBPC Mobilization (Monotherapy): 1.28 million IU/kg or 10 mcg/kg SC daily for 4-6 days
  • Chemotherapy-induced Neutropenia: 19.2 million IU/m² or 150 mcg/m² daily, starting the day after chemotherapy for a maximum of 28 days

Children (>2 years): 19.2 million IU/m² or 150 mcg/m² daily, starting the day after transplantation for a maximum of 28 days

Side effects

Common Side Effects:

  • Bone pain
  • Weakness
  • Increased white blood cell count
  • Low blood platelets
  • Back pain
  • Increased liver enzymes
  • Headache
  • Pain or redness at injection site
Precautions & warnings
  • First dose should be given at least 24 hours after chemotherapy or BMT
  • Store in refrigerator, protect from light, do not shake
  • Inform your doctor if you notice a lump, swelling, or bruising at injection site
  • Inform your doctor if you have fever, shortness of breath, or trouble breathing
  • Caution when driving or doing activities requiring concentration (may cause dizziness)
