Nepafenac Eye prep is an NSAID used for pain and inflammation associated with cataract surgery. It works by inhibiting prostaglandin biosynthesis.
Indications
- Post-operative eye pain and inflammation following cataract surgery
- Prevention of post-operative macular edema in diabetic patients
Dosage
Adult Dose (Eye Drops):
- 0.1%: 1 drop 3 times daily, 1 day prior to cataract surgery, on day of surgery and through first 2 weeks
- 0.3%: 1 drop once daily, 1 day before surgery, on day of surgery and through first 2 weeks; additional drop 30-120 minutes before surgery
- Prevention of macular edema (0.1%): 1 drop 3 times daily, 1 day before surgery, on day of surgery and through first 6 weeks
Side effects
Common Side Effects:
- Application site irritation
- Eye irritation
- Blurred vision
- Watery or dry eyes
Precautions & warnings
- Consult doctor if no improvement in 2 weeks
- Caution while driving or using machines (may cause blurred vision)
- Inform doctor if on blood thinners or have bleeding problems
- Use within 4 weeks of opening
