Povidone Iodine 6% Topical is an antiseptic and disinfectant agent. Used as a mouthwash to kill germs that cause sore throat. It also relieves dryness or irritation of the mouth and throat. Take Povidone Iodine 6% Topical in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Make sure not to swallow the medication. Do not stop using it until you have finished the complete course, even when you feel better. You must have to avoid eating, drinking, or smoking for at least 30 minutes after using it. Do not use it for longer than your doctor has told you to and let him or her know if your condition does not improve after 2 to 4 weeks of treatment. Pour gargle and mouthwash into the cup and dilute it with an equal amount of warm water if the taste is an issue. Swish solution for a short time in the mouth and spit it out. Povidone-iodine is an iodophore with a powerful broad-spectrum germicidal activity against a wide range of bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoa and spores. Microbicidal; oxidizes cell constituents; iodinates proteins and inactivates them. Ocular lubricant.

Adult Dose: Adult: As cream: For the treatment of infection: Apply once or twice daily or at dressing changes for a maximum of 14 days. For the prevention of infection: Apply once or twice a week for as long as necessary. Apply cream directly to the affected area after being cleaned and dried. May be covered with a dressing or bandage.

Check the label before use. Take the mouthwash in the quantity as advised by your doctor and put it in your mouth. Swish for 30 seconds to 1 minute and spit it. Do not swallow. Avoid eating, drinking, or smoking for at least 30 minutes after rinsing.

If you miss a dose of Povidone Iodine 6% Topical, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.

Regular use is contraindicated in patients or users with thyroid disorders (in particular nodular colloid goitre, endemic goiter and Hashimotos thyroiditis). Not for use in infants under 2 years. Special caution is needed when regular applications to broken skin are made to patients with pre-existing renal insufficiency. Regular use should be avoided in patients on concurrent lithium therapy.
