Rotavirus Live Attenuated Oral Vaccine is used to prevent rotavirus gastroenteritis in infants and young children. It is administered orally in 2 doses starting from 6 weeks of age, with the second dose given after at least 4 weeks and before 24 weeks of age.

- Prevention of rotavirus gastroenteritis
Dosage
Pediatric Dose (Oral):
- 2-Dose Regimen: Total of two 1 ml doses administered orally
- First dose: Starting at 6 weeks of age
- Second dose: At least 4 weeks after the first dose and before 24 weeks of age
Side effects
Common Side Effects (>10%):
- Diarrhea (24.1%)
- Vomiting (15.2%)
- Otitis media (14.5%)
- Fever (17-43%)
- Fussiness/irritability (3-52%)
1-10%:
- Nasopharyngitis (6.9%)
- Bronchospasm (1.1%)
- Flatulence (2%)
Precautions & warnings
- Caution in history of chronic GI disorders, chronic diarrhea, congenital abdominal disorders, abdominal surgery
- Defer vaccination in acute diarrhea, vomiting, or severe febrile illness
- Monitor for signs of intussusception (severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, bloating, blood in stools, high fever)
- Monitor for Kawasaki disease symptoms (fever, rash, red eyes, red mouth, swollen hands/feet)
- Caution with non-vaccinated or immunodeficient contacts
