Ozenoxacin topical is a quinolone antibacterial cream used for impetigo. It inhibits bacterial DNA replication enzymes (DNA gyrase A and topoisomerase IV) to kill Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes.
Indications
- Impetigo caused by Staphylococcus aureus or Streptococcus pyogenes (in adults and children 2 months+)
Dosage
Adults and Children 2 months+:
- Apply a thin layer topically to affected area every 12 hours for 5 days
- Adults and adolescents >12 years: Affected area up to 100 cm²
- 2 months-12 years: Up to 2% of total body surface area, not exceeding 100 cm²
Side effects
Side Effects:
- Rosacea
- Seborrheic dermatitis
Precautions & warnings
- Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of nonsusceptible bacteria and fungi
- Antagonistic interaction observed with ciprofloxacin against S. aureus
