Benzydamine Mouth prep

Benzydamine Mouth prep is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve pain, discomfort, and inflammation of the mouth, gums, and throat. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of pro-inflammatory cytokines like TNF-α and IL-1β, and also has a local anesthetic effect by inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators like substance P.

This medicine is used as a mouthwash or gargle. It should be spat out after use, not swallowed. It can be diluted with water if stinging occurs. Avoid contact with eyes.

Benzydamine Hydrochloride predominantly acts by inhibiting the synthesis of pro inflammatory cytokines like tumour necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-1β (IL-1β) without largely affecting other pro inflammatory cytokines. Moreover, it is capable of a local anaesthetic effect that may be related to its capability for inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators like substance P.

Benzydamine inhibits the synthesis of pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α and IL-1β) to reduce inflammation and provides local pain relief by inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators like substance P.

Mouth/Throat Pain, Acute pharyngitis: Rinse or gargle 15 ml of a 0.15% solution every 1½ to 3 hours until remission of pain (dilute with water if stinging occurs).

Radiation-Associated Mucositis: Gargle or rinse 15 mL in mouth (for 30 seconds, followed by expulsion) 3-4 times per day. Begin treatment 1 day prior to radiation therapy and continue daily during treatment.

Check the label before use. Take the mouthwash in the quantity as advised by your doctor and put it in your mouth. Swish for 30 seconds to 1 minute and spit it out. Do not swallow. Avoid eating, drinking, or smoking for at least 30 minutes after rinsing.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
