Description
Bepotastine Besilate belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines. It is used in the treatment of itching asssociated with inflammation in the eyes (redness and swelling) caused due to allergy. Follow your doctor's instructions precisely for administering Bepotastine Besilate in the eye. It should be used regularly at evenly spaced time intervals as prescribed by your doctor. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping the medicine too early may lead to returning or worsening. Commonly seen side effects seen with this medicine include temporary eye irritation and burning sensation after administration. Consult your doctor if these side effects persist or if your condition worsens. It may cause blurring of your vision for a short time just after its use, so not drive until your vision is clear. Bepotastine Besilate is an antihistaminic medication. It treats allergy symptoms such as itching, swelling, and rashes by blocking the effects of a chemical messenger (histamine) in the body.

Mechanism of action
Bepotastine is direct H1-receptor antagonist and an inhibitor of the release of histamine from mast cells.
Dosage
Adult Dose: Instill one drop into the affected eye(s) twice a day. Child Dose: <2 years old: Safety & efficacy not established >2 years old: Administer as in adults;Instill one drop into the affected eye(s) twice a day.
Administration
This medicine is for external use only. Take it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Hold the dropper close to the eye without touching it. Gently squeeze the dropper and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid. Wipe off extra liquid.
Missed dose
If you miss a dose of Bepotastine Besilate, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Side effects
Common: • Eye irritation • Headache • Nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the throat and nasal passages)
Precautions & warnings
[CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR] It is not known whether Bepotastine Besilate alters the ability to drive. Do not drive if you experience any symptoms that affect your ability to concentrate and react. Your doctor has prescribed Bepotastine Besilate to treat inflammation (redness and swelling) due to allergies of the eye. It treats short-term or sudden allergic reactions in the eye. Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute immediately after instilling the drop. Wait for at least 5-10 minutes before delivering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution. Stinging sensation may occur for 1-2 mins. Notify your doctor if it persists for longer. Make sure to use within 4 weeks of opening the bottle.
