Betamethasone + Neomycin Sulphate Topical

Betamethasone 0.1% + Neomycin Sulphate 0.5% Topical is a combination preparation used for the treatment of bacterial skin infections and inflammation. This preparation contains Betamethasone (a corticosteroid) and Neomycin Sulphate (an antibiotic).

Betamethasone is an active topical corticosteroid which produces a rapid response in inflammatory dermatoses and cures psoriasis types of skin diseases. Neomycin Sulfate is a topical broad-spectrum bactericidal amino-glycoside effective against various gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens such as Proteus vulgaris, Staphylococcus aureus, etc. This preparation has effective penetration and uniform distribution capacity, making it very effective in hairy and intertriginous places.

Apply a thin layer to the affected area 2-3 times daily.

• Superficial infections caused by gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms
• Burns, regeneration of new skin in wounds and ulceration
• Otitis externa
• Postoperative infections
• Neuro-dermatitis and eczema
• Adjunct to systemic steroid therapy in special types of pyoderma

Betamethasone reduces inflammation and itching, while Neomycin stops bacterial growth by inhibiting protein synthesis. Together, they provide effective treatment for bacterial skin infections.

Adults: Apply a thin layer to the affected area 2-3 times daily. In chronic conditions, withdrawal is carried out by decreasing the frequency of application until once a week. Usual duration: Up to 7 days per course.

Children (over 2 years): Apply to the affected area(s) 2-3 times daily. Usual treatment duration: Up to 5 days per course. Do not use on children under 1 year of age.

For external use only. Clean and dry the affected area and apply a thin layer of cream/ointment. Wash hands after application. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, or open wounds. Do not use occlusive dressings.

If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose.

• Application site burning, itching, redness
• Thinning of skin
• Dilatation of blood vessels
• Cushing's syndrome (with prolonged high-dose use)
• Acne

• Avoid long-term continuous topical therapy (may produce resistant microorganisms)
• Use only on infected areas
• Do not use in rosacea, acne vulgaris, perioral dermatitis
• Do not use in otitis externa with perforated eardrum
• Do not use in primary fungal or viral infections
• Do not use in secondary infections due to Pseudomonas or Proteus species
• Avoid extensive use during pregnancy

• Hypersensitivity to betamethasone, neomycin, or any component
• Rosacea
• Acne vulgaris
• Perioral dermatitis
• Perianal and genital pruritus
• Primary viral skin infections
• Otitis externa with perforated eardrum
• Primary fungal or bacterial infections
• Infections caused by yeast

• Neuromuscular blockers: Neomycin sulfate may increase respiratory depressant effects if significant systemic absorption occurs

No food-related restrictions (topical application).

[CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR] Should not be used extensively during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Use only if potential benefit justifies the potential risk.

[SAFE IF PRESCRIBED] Probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby. The baby's skin should not come into direct contact with the treated area. Water-miscible cream/gel is preferred as ointments may expose the baby to harmful effects via licking.

Do not use on children under 1 year of age. For children over 2 years: Apply 2-3 times daily, usually for up to 5 days.

No dose adjustment needed for elderly patients, but caution is advised.

Systemic absorption with topical application is minimal, but caution is advised in severe renal or hepatic impairment.

Overuse may cause Cushing's syndrome, acne, thinning of skin, and dilatation of blood vessels. Consult a doctor if symptoms occur.

Store below 30°C, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
