At a glance

Calcium Carbonate [Eggshell source] + Vitamin D3 is a film-coated tablet used for the treatment of bone loss (osteoporosis), weak bones (osteomalacia, osteopenia), rickets, hypoparathyroidism and to ensure adequate calcium and vitamin D3 during pregnancy, lactation, post-menopausal and senile osteoporosis.

Description

Each film-coated tablet contains Calcium Carbonate obtained from European eggshell source and Vitamin D3. The calcium from eggshell is 100% natural, highly digestible (98%), more absorbable, and contains small amounts of essential salts and minerals for bone development including Magnesium, Phosphorus & Strontium. It has a higher absorption rate than algae, coral, or rock-based calcium.

Indications

Bone loss (osteoporosis), weak bones (osteomalacia, osteopenia), rickets, hypoparathyroidism, latent tetany, ensuring adequate calcium and vitamin D3 during pregnancy and lactation, post-menopausal osteoporosis, senile osteoporosis, drug-induced osteoporosis (Phenytoin, Phenobarbital, Prednisolone).

Therapeutic class

Specific mineral & vitamin combined preparations

Pharmacological class

Calcium supplement + Vitamin D3

Pharmacology

Calcium is essential for normal functioning of bones, nerve cells, muscles, and other vital organs. If blood calcium is inadequate, the body will take calcium from bones, weakening them and triggering bone disorders. Vitamin D3 helps the body absorb calcium. Eggshell calcium contains soluble transport proteins for maximum absorption compared with other calcium sources.

Mechanism of action

Calcium helps maintain bone mineralization and density and ensures normal nerve and muscle function. Vitamin D3 increases intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphate. The combined action supports bone formation, increases bone density and prevents fractures. Eggshell calcium has a higher absorption rate than algae, coral, or rock-based calcium.
