Description
Cinchocaine Hydrochloride 1% is a local anaesthetic used for surface anaesthesia of the skin. It prevents or diminishes nerve impulse conduction near to the site of administration. It also has membrane-stabilising effect owing to decrease of permeability of the nerve cell to sodium ions. This medicine is applied topically as cream or ointment and should be used as directed.

Pharmacology
Cinchocaine prevents or diminishes nerve impulse conduction near to the site of administration. It also has membrane-stabilising effect owing to decrease of permeability of the nerve cell to sodium ions. It blocks sodium channels, preventing the initiation and conduction of action potentials.
Mechanism of action
Cinchocaine stabilizes the nerve cell membrane by blocking sodium channels and prevents or diminishes nerve impulse conduction.
Dosage
Adult Dose (Topical/Cutaneous): Up to 1% in cream and ointment. Use as directed.
Administration
This medicine is for external (topical) use only. Apply a small amount of cream or ointment to the affected area. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, or mucous membranes.
Missed dose
If you miss a dose of Cinchocaine Hydrochloride 1%, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next application, skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose.

Precautions & warnings
- Elderly, debilitated patients, children, epilepsy, impaired cardiac conduction or respiratory function, shock, hepatic impairment, myasthenia gravis require caution.
- Do not rub or touch the eye while anaesthesia persists.
- Avoid application for prolonged periods and to extensive areas.
- Caution during pregnancy and lactation.
Contraindications
- Complete heart block
- Pyogenic infection at or near the skin
- Application to inflamed or infected tissues or to damaged skin mucosa
- Instillation into the middle ear
