Emollient is a skin care product used for relief of dry skin, contact dermatitis, senile pruritus, atopic dermatitis, ichthyosis and related dry skin conditions. It softens and hydrates skin.
Description
Emollient softens and hydrates skin and acts as a mild cleanser for dry, sensitive skin. Available as bar, bath emollient and cream. Bar: use very little water, make rich lather, massage and cleanse affected areas. Bath: 1-3 capful to 8 inch bath water, soak 10-20 min. Cream: apply at least 3-4 times daily. For infants: ½-2 capful to a wash basin once daily. Weekly recommended amount for children is 250 g/week. For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. Contains cetostearyl alcohol and potassium sorbate which may cause skin irritation. Contraindicated in acne or greasy skin.

Pharmacology
Emollient softens and hydrates skin. It is also a mild cleanser for dry, sensitive skin. It helps reduce dryness and leaves the skin feeling soft and smooth.
Mechanism of action
Emollient retains skin moisture, reduces dryness and leaves skin soft and smooth.
Dosage
Adult Dose:
- Bar (Soap): Use very little water, make rich lather, massage and cleanse affected areas. Use as often as required.
- Bath Emollient: 1-3 capful to 8 inch bath water, soak for 10-20 min.
- Cream: Apply at least 3-4 times daily. Apply about 20 minutes before bedtime.
Child Dose: Infant bath: ½-2 capful to a wash basin. Bathe once daily. Weekly recommended amount: 250 g/week.
Administration
For external use only. Wet the skin and rub in a small quantity. Rinse and pat dry. Apply cream 3-4 times daily.
