Description
Fluocinolone 0.01% + Hydroquinone 4% + Tretinoin 0.05% Topical is a prescription medicine having a combination of medicines that is used to treat melasma. It helps in quick skin renewal. It provides relief from redness, swelling and itching.
This combination contains three medicines: Hydroquinone, Tretinoin and Fluocinolone acetonide which treat melasma. Hydroquinone is a skin lightening medicine that reduces the amount of melanin. Tretinoin is a form of vitamin A that helps the skin to renew itself more quickly. Fluocinolone acetonide is a steroid which blocks the production of inflammatory chemical messengers.
Indications
- Melasma: Used for short-term treatment of moderate to severe melasma of the face.

Pharmacology
This cream contains three active ingredients: Fluocinolone Acetonide, Hydroquinone and Tretinoin. All of them are used to treat melasma. Fluocinolone Acetonide is a corticosteroid for topical dermatological use classified as anti-inflammatory. Hydroquinone is classified as a depigmenting agent which interrupts melanin synthesis. Tretinoin is classified as a keratolytic agent.
Mechanism of action
Hydroquinone reduces melanin production, Tretinoin accelerates skin renewal, Fluocinolone reduces inflammation and irritation.
Dosage
Adult Dose (Topical):
- Apply a thin film to hyperpigmented areas of melasma once daily at night (at least 30 minutes before bedtime).
- Apply including about ½ inch of normal-appearing skin surrounding each lesion.
Administration
For external use only. Use in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and apply the cream. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area.
Missed dose
If you miss a dose of this combination, apply it as soon as possible; however, if it is almost time for your next application, skip the missed dose.

Precautions & warnings
Precautions:
- During the day, use sunscreen (SPF >=30) and wear protective clothing; avoid sunlight exposure.
- Patients may use moisturizers and/or cosmetics during the day.
- Severe allergic reactions (trouble breathing or severe asthma attacks) may occur.
- If hypersensitivity or chemical irritation occurs, discontinue use.
- Avoid prolonged use (HPA axis suppression may occur).

Contraindications: History of hypersensitivity, allergy or intolerance to this product or any of its components.

- Avoid use of medicated or abrasive soaps, cleansers, products with high concentration of alcohol, astringents or other irritants or keratolytic drugs.
- Avoid concomitant use of medications with photosensitizing effects.
