Fluocinolone 0.025% + Neomycin Sulphate 0.5% Topical is a combination of two medicines that effectively treats skin infections. It minimizes symptoms of inflammation such as redness, swelling, and itching. It also kills infection-causing microorganisms.

This combination contains two medicines: Fluocinolone acetonide and Neomycin which treat skin infections. Fluocinolone acetonide is a steroid which blocks the production of chemical messengers that make the skin red, swollen and itchy. Neomycin is an antibiotic that stops bacterial growth by preventing protein synthesis.

• Skin Infections: Used for inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, or psoriasis that are infected or likely to become infected.

Corticosteroid + Aminoglycoside Antibiotic

Fluocinolone acetonide is a corticosteroid primarily used in dermatology to reduce skin inflammation and relieve itching. It is a synthetic hydrocortisone derivative. Neomycin Sulfate is actively transported across the bacterial cell membrane, binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit of bacterial ribosomes, and interferes with an initiation complex between mRNA and the 30S subunit, inhibiting protein synthesis.

Fluocinolone reduces inflammation and itching; Neomycin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis to stop bacterial growth.

Adult Dose (Topical):

• Apply a small quantity of cream lightly up to two or three times a day, and massage gently and thoroughly into the skin.
• These recommendations apply to both children and adults, including the elderly.

For external use only. Use in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and apply the cream. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area. Avoid contact with eyes, nose, or mouth.

If you miss a dose of this combination, apply it as soon as possible; however, if it is almost time for your next application, skip the missed dose.

Common Side Effects:

Precautions:

• Appropriate anti-infective cover should be given in the presence of viral or fungal infection.
• Prolonged use should be avoided in conditions where absorption of neomycin is possible.
• Do not apply to the external auditory canal of patients with perforated eardrums.
• Long-term continuous topical steroid therapy can produce atrophic skin changes.
• Do not apply to the face for prolonged periods.
• Prolonged use or treatment of extensive areas can produce adrenal suppression, especially in infants and children.

Contraindications:

• Primary infections of the skin
• Rosacea, acne, perioral dermatitis
• Anogenital pruritis and napkin eruption
• Known hypersensitivity to neomycin

Use in Pregnancy: May be unsafe; animal studies have shown harmful effects; minimize amount and length of treatment if necessary.
