Description
Hemodialysis Solution is a concentrated solution used for hemodialysis in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). The solution contains Calcium Chloride, Glacial Acetic Acid, Magnesium Chloride, Potassium Chloride, and Sodium Chloride.
Calcium Chloride prevents and treats negative calcium balance and facilitates nerve and muscle function. Potassium Chloride is a major cation of intracellular fluid, playing a role in nerve impulse conduction. Sodium Chloride is the major extracellular cation important for electrolyte and fluid balance. Magnesium Chloride acts as a cofactor in enzymatic reactions involving protein synthesis and carbohydrate metabolism. Glacial Acetic Acid serves as an acetate source.

Pharmacology
Calcium Chloride prevents or treats negative calcium balance and regulates action potential excitation threshold to facilitate nerve and muscle performance. Potassium Chloride is a major cation of intracellular fluid, playing an active role in nerve impulse conduction and muscle contraction. Sodium Chloride is the major extracellular cation important for electrolyte and fluid balance and osmotic pressure control. Magnesium Chloride acts as a cofactor in enzymatic reactions, depresses CNS, and blocks peripheral neuromuscular transmission.
Mechanism of action
This concentrated solution is mixed with water and other electrolytes in the hemodialysis machine to create dialysate, which removes waste products and excess fluid from the patient's blood through the dialyzer and restores electrolyte balance.
Dosage
Adults: 5 litres of concentrate per dialysis session or as required.
Note: Dose and dialysis parameters are determined based on the patient's clinical condition and physician's advice.
Administration
For hemodialysis use only. Do not use solution A or B alone. Administered by healthcare professionals during dialysis.
Missed dose
Hospital-only medicine. Administered by doctor or nurse during hemodialysis. Missed dose concept does not apply (part of the dialysis procedure).
Side effects
Dialysis-related: Electrolyte imbalance, hypotension, muscle cramping, nausea, headache, fatigue.
Other: Loss of amino acids and water-soluble vitamins may occur during dialysis.
Precautions & warnings
- For hemodialysis use only.
- Do not use solution A or B alone (proper mixing is required).
- Discard the container if visible solid particles are present inside.
- Regular monitoring of electrolytes, blood glucose, and other parameters is required.
