Hydrochlorothiazide + Captopril

Hydrochlorothiazide + Captopril is a combination medicine used in the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). It works by relaxing the blood vessels and making the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body. It also removes extra water and certain electrolytes from the body. Hydrochlorothiazide + Captopril should be taken on an empty stomach or 1 hour before meal, but it is best to take it at the same time each day. Keep taking it for as long as advised by your doctor. It may cause frequent urination, so better to avoid taking it before bedtime time to avoid urination at night time. Even if you feel well, do not stop this medicine on your own because high blood pressure often has no symptoms. If you stop taking it, your condition may get worse. Keeping active with regular exercise, reducing your weight and eating a healthy diet will also help control your blood pressure. Follow your doctor's advice while taking this medicine. Nausea, taste change, diarrhea, and indigestion are some common side effects of this medicine. Consult your doctor If any of these bother you, or get worse, or do not go away. Let your doctor know about cough or throat irritation that does not go away. Drink plenty of fluids while taking medicine to overcome muscle weakness, dry mouth, and extreme thirst. Hydrochlorothiazide + Captopril is a combination of two medicines: Captopril and hydrochlorothiazide which lower blood pressure effectively. Captopril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. It works by reducing stress on the heart and relaxing blood vessels so that blood flows more smoothly and the heart can pump blood more efficiently. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that removes extra water and certain electrolytes from the body. Over time it also relaxes blood vessels and improves blood flow.

Adult Dose: Oral Hypertension, Chronic heart failure Adult: Per tablet contains captopril 25 mg and hydrochlorothiazide 15 mg: Initially, 1 tablet once daily. Daily dose should not exceed: 150 mg (captopril) and 50 mg (hydrochlorothiazide). Renal Dose: Renal impairment CrCl >30mL/min: No dosage adjustment required CrCl <30mL/min: Not recommended

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Hydrochlorothiazide + Captopril is to be taken empty stomach.

You have been prescribed Angiopril-DU 25mg/15mg Tablet for the treatment of high blood pressure. It also lowers your risk of stroke and heart attack. Angiopril-DU 25mg/15mg Tablet may cause dizziness or sleepiness. Don't drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you. To lower the chance of feeling dizzy or passing out, rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down. Inform you doctor about any cough, or throat irritation that doesn't go away. Angiopril-DU 25mg/15mg Tablet may cause dehydration. Drink plenty of fluids and Inform your doctor if you develop extreme thirst, muscle weakness or very dry mouth. Your doctor may regularly monitor your blood pressure, kidney function and the levels of salts such as potassium in your blood while you are taking this medicine. Do not take Angiopril-DU 25mg/15mg Tablet if you’re pregnant or planning pregnancy. It can cause birth defects or be fatal to your unborn baby.

Hypersensitiviry, anuria and severe renal impairment, allergy to sulphonamide-related drugs, collagen - vascular disease, renal artery stenosis. Pregnancy (2nd and 3rd trimesters).

Hypotensive action of captopril blunted by NSAIDs. Impairment in glycaemic control by thiazides. Decreased renal excretion of captopril by probenecid. Hypotensive effect of captopril may be increased by other hypotensives. Symptomatic hyponatremia and impaired renal function may result with concomitant use of carbamazepine and allopurinol. Thiazide absorption is increased and decreased by anticholinergics and cholestyramine respectively. May reduce clearance of lithium; monitor serum lithium levels when used together. Potentially Fatal: Increase in bone marrow depression on concomitant therapy with immunosuppressants. Analgesic and resp depression effects of morphine potentiated. Potentiation of nephrotoxicity caused by aminoglycosides, precipitation of digitalis toxicity and lithium toxicity by thiazide diuretics.

[UNSAFE] Hydrochlorothiazide + Captopril may cause excessive drowsiness with alcohol.
