Description

This combination contains Metronidazole against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa. Nystatin binds to ergosterol in fungal cell membrane. Polymyxin B disrupts gram-negative bacterial membrane. Neomycin inhibits protein synthesis by binding to 30S ribosomal subunits.

Pharmacology

Metronidazole interacts with DNA causing destruction of helical structure. Nystatin binds to ergosterol affecting cell wall permeability. Polymyxin B disrupts bacterial cytoplasmic membrane. Neomycin binds to 30S ribosomal subunits inhibiting protein synthesis.

Mechanism of action

Stops the growth of bacteria and fungi causing infection.

Dosage

Adult Dose (Vaginal Suppository):

  • Insert 1 suppository into the vagina at bedtime
  • Use for 12 days

  • Insert high up into the vagina at bedtime
  • Wash hands before and after application
  • For vaginal use only
