Description
Tiemonium Methylsulphate is a synthetic anticholinergic-antispasmodic drug. It is a competitive antagonist of acetylcholine and histamine and strengthens calcium bonding with phospholipids and proteins, stabilizing the GI tract cell membrane and inhibiting visceral muscle contraction and pain.

- Dysentery, diarrhea, gastroenteritis
- Biliary colic, enterocolitis, cholecystitis
- Colonopathies, mild cystitis
- Spasmodic dysmenorrhea
- Visceral muscle spasm

Pharmacology
Tiemonium Methylsulphate acts as a competitive antagonist of acetylcholine and histamine and strengthens calcium bonding with phospholipids and proteins. It inhibits intracellular contractile proteins of visceral cells, inhibiting visceral spasm and pain.
Mechanism of action
Reduces visceral muscle spasm and pain.
Dosage
Adult Dose:
- Tablet: 2-6 tablets (100-300 mg) daily in divided doses
- Syrup: 3-9 teaspoonfuls daily in divided doses
- Injection: 1 ampoule 3 times daily (slow IV/IM)
- Suppository: 20 mg suppository 2-3 times daily (rectal)
Pediatric Dose:
- 3 mL/kg or 6 mg/kg body weight daily in divided doses
Administration
- Can be taken with or without food
- Swallow tablet whole; do not chew
- Injection: Administered by a healthcare professional as slow IV/IM
- Suppository: Administered rectally
Missed dose
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember; if almost time for the next dose, skip it; do not double the dose.
