Pioglitazone is a medicine used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. It helps control blood sugar levels in people with diabetes. This helps to prevent serious complications of diabetes like kidney damage and blindness. Pioglitazone may be used by itself or along with other medicines. It may be taken with or without food. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Pioglitazone may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

If you miss a dose of Pioglitazone, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.
